Akvaplan-niva AS (Norway and Greece)
Akvaplan-niva is an independent company offering consultancy and research services in aquaculture and the marine and freshwater environments. It has an international staff of some 60 biologists, ecologist, chemists and geologists. Our internationally accredited chemical and biological laboratories provide a large range of high quality analyses. Akvaplan-niva has its main office and laboratories in Tromsų, Norway and regional offices and representatives in Greece, Scotland and Malaysia.
Aquaculture
Akvaplan-nivas
aquaculture department provides all types of consultancy services
including: environmental management, development of production techniques
for new aquaculture species, design and planning of facilities, master
plans and business development, site evaluations and recommendations for
production improvement and technical inspection of installations.
Akvaplan-niva has hands-on experience with a large number of species and
from many countries around the world. Development of new species and
testing of new production technologies is carried out at our own pilot
fish farms.
Environment
The
environmental department offers services including: marine and freshwater
environmental monitoring and resource studies, environmental impact and
risk assessments (EIA and ERA), environmental planning and management
studies, environmental data management and development of environmental
guidelines, programs and strategies. Environmental services to the
petroleum industry are a very important part of our portfolio. To maintain
a high level of professionalism, we are actively participating in several
research and development projects in fields such as arctic ecology,
pollution effect studies, biodiversity, benthos taxonomy and global
climate change.
Quality and innovation
Akvaplan-niva
aims to be the market leader in its fields and has as such a strong
commitment to quality and innovation. It offers quality assurance
according to ISO 9001 standards. The laboratories are accredited for most
of the chemical and biological analyses offered (EN-45001). Akvaplan-niva
is one of few laboratories that is accredited for the collection of
samples for benthos and hydrocarbon analysis in accordance with the North
Sea Environmental Monitoring Manual, issued by the Norwegian Pollution
Control Authority SFT. In order to maintain its position at the
forefront of technological developments and knowledge, Akvaplan-niva is
involved in applied and basic research projects and maintains strong ties
with leading scientific institutes and businesses worldwide. Most of our
employees have business and/or research experience and we are regularly
host for exchange students from a number of different countries..
